“Resilience” is a two-block linoleum relief print on handmade paper. The paper is 5” x 7”. This design on handmade paper was printed in a limited edition of 15.

This piece began with local plants I collected from my neighborhood and a hornet nest I discovered on the ground on an especially windy day. I ground up these natural materials, along with recycled printmaking paper, to make a paper pulp. I then pulled each sheet of paper by hand. The hornet nest, paper pulp, and stack of finished handmade sheets are shown in the photos.

The dandelion was drawn by hand directly onto two linoleum blocks, one for the yellow flower and one for the green of the leaves and stem. Each block was hand carved and printed onto the block by hand on a manual etching press.

(Typically, I hand sign my prints, but pencil doesn’t write clearly on this handmade paper, as it is very soft and textured. Instead, there is a Bright Cloud Press imprint is on the back of each print, as seen in the picture.)
