FRESH BREAD: take, break, & eat (2010)
2010
Silkscreen, edible ink, flat bread, skillet, hot plate, people
An ongoing participatory project exploring the meaning of covenant and community, specifically in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Anonymous participants submit a handwritten promise that they made in the past or that someone made to them. The artist selects segments of covenants, agreements, and treaties related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Each promise or selected text is later screenprinted on flatbread (laffa) with edible ink. Participants are encouraged to break bread and eat together.
