Populace Mechanics Print
Populace Mechanics Print
“Populace Mechanics” is a hand carved woodcut, screenprint, and collage on paper. The print is 23" x 16.5", made in a limited edition of 15.
“Populace Mechanics” is part of a body of prints by the same title, which tell a story about the conflation of domestic, military, and scientific activity in mid-century St. Louis. I explore themes of infiltration, anonymity, and optimization. The disembodied hands in the sky are a compartmentalized but systematic workforce, united for action. This print also speaks to the realities of the virtual world: the normalizing of interactions outside of our own bodies, acting upon simplistic group ideologies, and being easily influenced.
